12 x 12 challenge canvases at 'Seams and Layers' exhibtion 2014

by Iris Whitlock
These are some of the Animal, Mineral & Vegetable challenge pieces done by most DW members early this year. The only restrictions were that they had to be on a 12" x 12" canvas and include animal, mineral & vegetable in the materials.

Some Exhibition Photos

Seams and Layers, at the Nyisztor Studio, Melville, is well worth seeing but it closes Wednesday 5th November.
Opening times: Sun 2 - 5pm, Tue & Wed 10am - 5pm.

Above: Juliet Hargreaves' amazing felt vessels in the foreground and the felted and machine embroidered panel below is hers too. I forgot to take a catalogue home so I'll update this post with more details later but I wanted to show some of the pieces while you can still visit the exhibition.

Opening night of Seams & Layers

We had a good opening night for our exhibition, lots of interested people, many of them friends and family, lovely harp music and delicious food and drinks.
If you're in Perth, it will be open Tuesday to Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 2 - 5pm until it closes on Wednesday 5th November, at the Nyisztor Studio, 391 Canning Hwy, Melville. Entry and parking from Stock Road.

Unfortunately our president, Jan, was still in hospital after breaking her ankle so Dorothy stepped in to introduce Jan Mullen who performed the opening.

October Meeting

This year has flown by and now it's almost time for our exhibition Seams and Layers to open. Saturday's meeting was a flurry of exhibition work - many were adding finishing touches, hanging devices and labels But we also had to allocate jobs for the opening and the roster.

Scroll down to the next post to see the invitation.

Dwellingup retreat

This month there is no meeting because of the annual retreat at Banksia Springs. I'm not there but Zoe kindly sent these pics for the blog. Looks like a hive of activity! Most people will be busy working on their exhibition pieces as they need to be finished by the October meeting.

Banksia Springs is looking good.
