These cute little birds were made for the Designing Women Christmas decoration swap - held every December. I'm hoping there will be a few more pics coming eventually.
Show and Tell
Some great show and tell at February's meeting - below: Juliet's stunning machine embroidered pictures.
Susie showed us her 3D pieces made with her handmade cords.
more of Susie's work including the glass panel
Annette showed calico bags dyed with natural plant dyes - some were hand stitched too. Below: her string baskets. Annette has provided a link to a book by India Flint on natural dyeing for those who would like more information..
Jan O's painted and embroidered Greek Island work.
Dorothy's tulip piece - the background uses techniques from Cindy Mark's workshop last year
My Gelli plate printing experiments
A detail of my quilt Roses are Red... made for Living Colour. It was not chosen.
A new challenge was issued: animal, mineral or vegetable, to be mounted on a 12" x12" canvas, so some of the group were working on that and others were doing their own thing. The next meeting in March will be our AGM with elections and a shared lunch.
Lastly, a reminder from Annette to have your say as a Western Australian craft practitioner in an online survey undertaken by the Chamber of Arts and Culture.
